Surgical treatment being carried out safely under intravenous sedation on a patient who has been medically evaluated as fit to undertake treatment.
Proper medical evaluation is essential for the safe treatment of patients. Recently during the consultation process a patient was noted to have high blood pressure and referred to a physician. He was appropriately treated and his life was saved.
"I thought you might like to know that the tall chap we treated together (who had the uncontrolled hypertension) wife's came in today to thank us for saving his life. It turned out he had a run of tests following our blood pressure find, and ended up with a bypass before Christmas to keep him going. She feels he probably dodged a heart attack. All in a days work for PID alumni eh!?"
